TROU DE VER

A wormhole is a shortcut through spacetime, and is often associated with time travel. No scientific evidence has been able to prove the existence of wormholes, however the Theory of General Relativity predicts that if traversable wormholes exist, they could in fact allow time travel. A traversable wormhole essentially means a wormhole that will allow something to pass through it, but without exotic matter with negative energy density, the wormhole would collapse before anything could.

Hissy Fit is the solo project of Jorge Torrens, one half of our beloved Port City. Jorge’s side-project explores laid-back ambient and spacial sounds with a subtle retro aesthetic. Below is the video he created for his track Milk Jacuzzi, off of his digital album TROU DE VER.

11 DIMENSIONS

Theoretical physicists use the M-theory, which is an extension of string theory in which 11 dimensions are identified. The idea behind M-theory is to explain the origins of our universe as it relates to physics and mathematics. After a saturated amount of attempts to make this theory work, scientists were left with five versions of the same formula. The eleventh dimension was added in attempt to explain the unexplained- the parallel universe, bringing us one step closer to understanding the truth behind The Big Bang.

Port City creates lo-fi soul pop like no other, the duo marry melodies and percussion together as if you were to glue them. Much like the M-theorys’ eleventh dimension, Jorge and Thom create music that explores a whole new unknown of soulful pop, creating The Big Bang over and over again with each song.

Thom and Jorge have recently uploaded a few jams recorded live back in 2009. Port City is on a short hiatus currently, but I’ve been assured that some new recordings will be available in the coming months.

FEEL IT OUT

At the center of the solar system lies one of our galaxies’ most important stars, the sun, radiates heat from a core equivalent to 15.7E6 degrees Kelvin. Seasonally, the suns’ rays are reeking havoc on us at full force here in the northeastern part of the United States, direct contact from the sun has heat seeping into the pores of our skin.

People who reside in the state of Florida have much more experience living with the suns’ awesome magnitude of heat. Floridas’ upcoming duo, Port City, create glowing lo-fi soul pop songs. Their two demos have been keeping me cool by creating a body of water around me with their vibes, the unforgettable vocal melodies and the apparent drumming in the foreground brings Port City running into your ears.
