MIAMI VIBES

I’ve appreciated Toro Y Mois’ LP Causers Of This as a great piece of production and using texture to make his songs catchy more than his vocals. I stumbled upon Toro Y Mois’ side project, Les Sins, through his myspace never knowing that it was his side-project until today. I remember listening to some pretty decent music while looking at these really cool retro miami-vibe photos. I feel like Chaz’s talents in the production of music surpasses his live performances, which is why I am very much into his ‘dance house’ based side-project, and super stoked it’s getting a proper 12” single release on Carpark November 9th.

YOURS TRULY, TORO Y MOI

Toro Y Moi does a ‘non-chill’ version of You Hid for one of my favorite music websites, Yours Truly.

Love: Whose Songs are Dreams in the Human Mind

These two vids were shot by Ray Concepcion at Brooklyn Bowl (pre-chillwave robberies) when Toro Y Moi played at Brooklyn Bowl friday with the Ruby Suns. The intro of the Toro Y Moi video is a song from my favorite buzzband Sleep Over.

Toro Y Moi: Live On Viva Radio

Listen to Toro Y Moi get interviewed and play Talamak, You Hid, and Freak Love live. This gets me psyched to see him play. I also am a fan to hearing my favorite artists get interviewed, like the Kurt Vile radio interview I posted a while back, from the same VIVA Radio.

Toro Y Moi: Talamak

In this super cool video, you can watch Chaz play with his indie friend with colored smoke in his hometown, and sing about it through a microphone. I had always thought this song was about a girl, but now I see it is perhaps about the loss of a good friend, maybe over a fight or something. I didn’t realize how deep this track was until I saw this vid. I now feel that I am able to ‘connect’ with Chazs’ music at a coherent level.

Toro Y Moi: Missya (2007 Demo)

Found it on his blog today, it’s primarily an acoustic song:

You can also check out some of his other demos (I’ve only heard Sad Sams out of the ones that are posted) via Soundcloud

Spirit x Toro Y Moi x Body Language

Crazy right? Much thanks to Spirit for getting at me and submitting this really intense glitchy remix of Toro Y Mois’ Timed Pleasure remix, posted earlier today.

Les Bull: Spirit Mix

This is a 22 minute remix of Toro Y Moi songs, by a duo called Spirit. It features material not on Causers Of This, and is good prep for Toros’ next album that ‘may’ be dropping in August.

Watch Chaz Bundick (Toro Y Moi) interview Kid Trails

Although I’m pretty sure ‘109’ is not on Causers of This/meaning slightly embarrassing for this dude
